Throw Away Your Pain Pills
If you suffer from back pain, hip pain, pain from bloating, or any other type of pain, it’s the body’s warning there is something wrong. Instead of masking the issue with pills that reduce the pain or numb the area, you need to address the cause of the underlying pain. Once you locate and correct the problem, you can throw away your pain pills and live pain-free.
When you exercise, your body creates natural pain relievers.
Some people don’t exercise because they fear it will make the pain worse. In some cases, that may be true, which is why you always need to consult a healthcare professional first when dealing with chronic pain. Once you get the okay, start exercising. You don’t have to run a marathon. All you need to do is move more. It causes the body to create chemicals that help reduce pain. Be aware that when you first start, it may make the pain worse before it gets better. Gradually increase the amount and intensity of the workout. Start simply by walking more.
Exercise also helps increase circulation of the blood, lymphatic fluid, and synovial fluid.
Increased blood circulation helps bring more oxygen and nutrients to cells to promote healing. Improving lymphatic flow helps arthritis and IBS and can prevent many diseases, including Alzheimer’s, diabetes, and Parkinson’s. Poor flow increases inflammation, which can cause pain. Improving the flow of synovial fluid helps increase lubrication to the joints. Exercise also helps the joints by improving the strength of muscles and preventing more wear and tear on the cartilage.
Eating healthy can reduce pain.
Besides affecting digestion, which can be painful, what you eat also affects inflammation. When inflammation occurs, it can cause muscle weakness, skin issues, flu-like symptoms, and widespread body pain. Eating anti-inflammatory foods like berries, fatty fish, broccoli, and avocados can reduce inflammation and pain. Foods that cause inflammation include food with added sugar, highly processed food, refined carbohydrates, and red meat.
- If you have muscle aches and pains, including back pain, consider a massage or use a massage gun to relieve the pain. Heat can also help relax the muscles. If the problem is the fascia, use movement and pressure.
- Drink more water. Joint pain can occur if you’re mildly dehydrated. Rehydrating your body increases the synovial fluid in the joints to lubricate them more effectively.
- If you’re starting an exercise program, always check with your healthcare professional, especially if you haven’t had a physical in a while. Start slowly. It helps avoid pain the next day that may cause you to quit exercise.
- You can use balms created for muscle pain or make your own using a carrier oil or cream and adding food-grade essential oils. Clove and peppermint are two that reduce pain and provide relief.
